Petals & Beans has moved!

Did you see yesterday's paper? I know that there are a ton of loyal Petals & Beans customers who have patronized their airport location for the last 10 years. Well...they have moved to my district, and are now located on the first floor of the Hokua Building (where PF Chang's is).

I had not heard about Petals & Beans until they moved to this part of town, but the owners are so familiar!

Wanda and Dennis Wong

I actually knew Dennis when I was a kid growing up at Nuuanu Baptist Church. He and Wanda met while they worked in the airline industry, and 10 years ago opened Petals & Beans. The store, you see, has two distinct but harmonious purposes.

On one side of the store, Wanda creates some of the most beautiful, unique, season-appropriate flower arrangements. They're so elaborate that you should order ahead, but she does make some extras so you can grab & go.

Petals

If you're looking for the perfect Easter arrangement, this is it! She also does give baskets that contain snacks, dolls, toys, and pastries.

On the other side, the "beans," Dennis takes care of the coffee and desserts. Their coffee drinks, even the blended ones, are made with freshly brewed coffee, not a coffee mix. You can really taste the difference. The blended drinks are topped with whipped cream, of course...but this is the only place I've been that offers chocolate whipped cream. In fact, I once ordered a blended coffee drink with half vanilla, half chocolate whipped cream.
coffee drinks

Since it's their 10 year anniversary, they are offering prices from 10 years ago on many of their drinks! It's for "a limited time," so I'd go quickly. I don't know when the time limitation ends.

Dessert platter

You can also order dessert platters, as pictured above, or just go in and order one or two desserts to go for yourself. These are baked fresh daily and taste as good as they look. One dessert and one of those blended coffee drinks will have you buzzing all day, for sure!

Petals & Beans! I used to buy coffee from Dennis every morning when I worked at the Airport Trade Center. They are such wonderful people! It was sad to see them move but I'm glad that they are back!

I'm always happy to hear that a business is doing good. 10 yrs is an accomplishment nowadays. It's because of their customers. Thanks for directing us to them.

What a great write up Melissa! Wanda and Dennis go back to the NBC days for me too! My mother in law always gets the greatest flowers and gift baskets delivered from Petals and Beans. So Wanda can make a simple dozen roses look extra special. Her arrangements really do stand out from the rest. Much success in your new location, I hope to make it out there one day soon!

  11. Kelli:

I think we ordered gift baskets from there before! I didn't know they had the drinks and desserts! I gotta try that. Thanks for sharing about them.
