Tasting the "Flavors"~Sheraton Hawaii Bowl

June 9th, 2009
By Melissa

I'm going to the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl "Flavors" event tomorrow night. Are you?

Now, don't get me wrong: I'm not going simply because there's food and wine galore there. Yes, that's a huge reason, but I spend most of my time cruising the silent auction. It's a good cause!

charity-foodKim Fujiuchi, one of the Charity Angels in charge of the event says, “In addition to supporting really great local charities, Flavors is such a bargain on so many different levels. The food alone is worth it. Then on top of that there’s an amazing selection of great wines. When you think that a bottle of wine might cost $40, what happens if you don’t like it? At Flavors, you can try dozens of different wines, and find what you truly like. You can even order bottles of your favorites at discounted prices. But, most importantly, Flavors is a way to have a really good time while giving back to our community.”

As with most charities, it's been a little harder for the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Foundation to garner the same amount that they got in previous years. Kim is optimistic that people will come around in support of the cause. A few of the past recipients of the net proceeds include: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu, Education-First Hawai‘i, Hale Kipa, Hawai‘i Children’s Cancer Foundation, Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association, HUGS, Outrigger Duke Kahanomoku Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawai‘i and Special Olympics Hawai‘i.

Good Morning Melissa dear. No ack, you busy girl you. All for a good cause. Just think of all these partying as fringe benefit. Sheesh you go from one event to another and maybe even squeeze a few more in between. if that's what FREELANCING is all about, I like.

Sorry, wish I could go to that function.

  6. Warrior Dave:

This is the first time I've hear about this event. This charity needs to do a better job of getting the word out in advance. Sounds like a wonderful event. I only wish I knew sooner.

Melissa, we look forward to your review and pictures!
