Can you ever have too many cupcakes? Lately there's been many reasons to celebrate and indulge, even in a little treat.

I stopped by Hokulani Bake Shop on Friday to get some goodies for the Advertiser's Custom Publishing Group for Halloween. Owner Tushar Dubey was in, and was excited to show me his latest creation: Wailua Fudge-stuffed Vanilla Cupcakes. He didn't just want to make something different that tasted good; he wanted to be sure his product was from Hawaii. (p.s. to the Custom Publishing Group: Sorry, I lost control and ate your fudge-stuffed cupcakes on my way to your office. But I hope you liked the other stuff I brought you! hee hee.)

Speaking of Hawaii-based products: So yesterday, in the wake of the fantastic election results, Jennifer stopped by Hokulani on a whim and found these celebratory cupcakes, below.

"There weren't any McCain cupcakes," she mused. Well, Dolly Madison got her famous cakes distributed nationwide. Maybe the Dubeys will get their Presidential Sweets in demand around the country, too!

One of my favorite indulgences is Red Velvet Cake, but the last thing I want to do is buy a whole cake! Fortunately, Hokulani Bake Shop brings it down to a single serving so I don't go overboard.

I showed up (late) to the store, and by that time they were completely out of Red Velvet. Why should I be surprised? It's their best seller! Out of distress, I did what comes naturally: I bought a dozen assorted cupcakes instead.

Oh, you thought these were all for me, didn't you??  Thought I fell off the workout wagon? No, I took these to a potluck last night. I heard a lot about the Lilikoi cupcake, which lived up to the hype--the cake is tangy, the frosting is rich but not too sweet. Everyone inhaled their cupcakes with no complaints, so I'm guessing they were a hit.
